Happy Holidays everyone!
So sorry for the loooong hiatus from the blog. I've been busy spending time with family and friends back in Atlanta (and I hope you've been busy with yours too!). I'm so happy to be home and near everyone and everything I've missed. I can't believe it's been almost a whole year since I moved away from my hometown.
This is a bit of a strange story, in which I learned an important lesson. I made this peanut butter dough a couple of weeks ago and was storing it in my freezer. Recently, I received a cookie order and thought they would be perfect in an assorted box. So I removed the dough and made the cookies. The dough didn't smell like peanut butter, but I thought maybe that was because it was very chilled? The cookies were also a bit darker than I thought they should be. I waited till Joe got home and made him taste one. He told me they were delicious with absolutely no hint of peanut butter. So basically, I have a mystery brown cookie dough in my freezer and I have no idea where it came from or when I made it. Apparently, it's still good though...
My life has become all about macarons lately. I feel like I'm spamming my blog with macaron posts! I promise, this is a blog on all things sweet, not just macarons. But I couldn't resist posting these right before Christmas. I've been hearing so much about a flavor at Starbucks--peppermint mocha--that seem to get people all riled up (in a good way). For someone who doesn't drink coffee, I don't get the hype. I've been making mocha macarons for a long time now but I wondered what would happen if I swapped out the filling for a creamy peppermint cream.
Two years ago, very randomly and almost impulsively, I decided to start a blog. I had no idea where it was going to go or if I'd still stick to it a year from that point. I had always assumed I would do a simple workplace job for the rest of my life but after working for a few months, I was already looking for a way out. Joe was the one who encouraged me to pursue food photography and I'm so glad I listened to him.
